By the time you read this notice we will have been on our outing to Hereford visiting the Cathedral and I do hope that it was a success.
I hope also that all concerned will have noticed that we have changed our Mary Sumner fund raising day from 9th August to the end of the month.

The new date is Saturday 30th August , 10 – 12, including coffee and cake. £2 per ticket.

There will be a Bring and Buy stall, raffle, book sale and a M.U. goods table.

Please try and support us as we raise money for Mothers' Union charities.

Mothers' Union - February 2014

We had our AGM at the February meeting and Rev Jeremy was in the chair. It was decided that Janet Wilson would be leader again making it her 10th year. Janet agreed to lead the branch with the existing committee with the addition of Anne Hooley. Yvonne Lock retired as Secretary but will stay on the committee. No one would be Secretary so Janet said she would do this job with the help of Kay Lee.

The committee is as follows - Kay Lee Treasurer, Pat Griffiths, Mary
Mansell, Margaret McAllister, Yvonne Lock and Anne Hooley. We hope to have a good year with lots of fun and making money for Mothers' Union charities.

A very big thank you for the beautiful photo frame and potted plants
which were presented to me for the last 9 years as leader. I was very touched by the generosity of the committee and members and it was much appreciated and I hope to serve you well in the coming year.

Janet Wilson
Branch Leader

Mothers' Union - January 2014

Our first meeting of the New Year was held on 13th January. We had a good number of people attend and Jennie Ashworth was our speaker. Jennie, as always, gave a humorous talk about the lead up to her recent operation, it really lightened up the afternoon and everyone had fun and lots of chatter to catch up after their Christmas break.

It is with sadness to report the death of Eunice Wilson. Eunice had been a member since we reformed our branch in May 1986. She was a very supportive member and will be sadly missed by her fellow members of Mothers' Union.

Our next meeting on 10th February will be the AGM. Do come and see what we plan to do in the coming year.

The March meeting will start at 2pm with a Eucharist and enrollment service. Anyone wishing to come along will be most welcome.

For our May meeting we had a speaker, Patrica Boyde who came and gave us a very entertaining humorous talk on weddings, fashions past and present and we all recalled our own memories.

At our February meeting we had our A.G.M. and it was voted that I would serve as Branch Leader again - my 9th year!!!

The committee was also voted in again so we can continue to run this large branch - we have 41 members.

We enrolled our 41st member at the Eucharist held before the A.G.M. - Inga who was attended by her daughter Carolyn. It was a joyous time and we had a different theme for the service - we looked at things that were important to us - our banner, our logo tablecloth and the first album  of photos dating back to the first meeting May 1986.

We look forward to another year of fun and fellowship.

Our next meeting is April 8th we shall have a slide-show from Dragonfly Travel Company. All welcome.

Janet Wilson - Branch Leader
Kay Lee - Treasurer
Yvonne Lock - Secretary
Pat Griffiths - Outings and Press Officer
Mary Mansell and Margaret McAllister - Refreshment team
